During the recent Minecraft Live 2026, Mojang showcased some of the content that will be coming to the game in the next few months, including a massive free update that will introduce new environments, enemies, and materials to explore and build with.

The company took the opportunity to give a glimpse into their plans for 2026, confirming that players can expect significant updates both this summer and in the fall. Among them is a free expansion that promises to revolutionize subterranean exploration with new threats and rewards.

Chaos Cubed is coming to Minecraft on June 16 with a new subterranean biome

The main announcement from Mojang is Chaos Cubed, a free update that will be available starting June 16, 2026. Its main attraction will be the introduction of the Sulfur Caves, a new subterranean zone characterized by its reddish and yellow hues, as well as treacherous acid pools that can cause damage to unprepared adventurers.

Alongside this new biome, the materials cinnabar and sulfur will also be introduced, allowing players to craft new block and equipment variants. Additionally, a curious creature known as the Sulfur Cube will make its debut, capable of absorbing nearby blocks and reacting dynamically to player actions, bringing new possibilities to the game world.

But that’s not all. Mojang also gave a sneak peek into the content planned for the major fall update, which will introduce the new Speckled Forest, a surface environment filled with trees featuring red, green, and yellow foliage. Abandoned camps will appear in these regions, filled with traps, hidden treasures, and enemies tasked with protecting valuable loot. It’s clear that 2026 will be another highly active year for Minecraft, as it continues to expand its universe with free content and new ways to explore, build, and survive.
