Grand Theft Auto VI continues to dominate the conversation even without showing a new official trailer yet. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen rumors about pre-orders, marketing campaigns, possible promotional agreements, and, above all, a lot of discussion around the possible final price of the game.
And now a new survey leaves a quite striking result: a large part of the players consider that paying $100 for GTA 6 would be reasonable.
Many players believe that GTA 6 can break the industry’s usual price
According to a study conducted by FirstLook among 2,000 active players in the United States and the United Kingdom, approximately 40% of the respondents consider a price of $100 for GTA 6 to be fair.
- However, the majority still thinks it would be too expensive. 59% believe that reaching that figure would be excessive, while a small 1% even considers that $100 would be “too cheap” given the size of the project. Nevertheless, the most interesting fact appears in the average price expected by the players themselves. According to the survey, many already assume that GTA 6 will cost around $80, clearly above the current standard of the AAA industry.
And despite all the controversy, it seems that the price won’t change the public’s interest too much. The study ensures that 94% of the respondents plan to buy the game regardless of the final cost. Additionally, another interesting fact reflects the extent to which Rockstar dominates the market: 29% claim that they will reduce spending on other video games during the dates close to the launch to reserve money specifically for GTA 6.
All this comes just as rumors about the opening of pre-orders and the start of Rockstar’s big promotional campaign continue to grow. And given the current expectation, it’s clear that the release of GTA 6 could end up marking a before and after in the industry’s prices as well.
