The Mafia saga is once again at the center of attention. In recent hours, several rumors have emerged suggesting that Hangar 13 is already working on multiple projects within the franchise, including a possible remake of Mafia 2 and a new game set in the same universe.
There is no official confirmation from Take-Two Interactive, but the amount of evidence is starting to become too consistent to ignore. One of the most talked-about points is the possibility of a remake of Mafia 2, which has gained momentum after seeing Hangar 13 developers working on audio recordings related to the original game’s weapons.
Mafia 2 Remake and a new game are allegedly in development
At the same time, there is also talk of a new game that could act as a prequel, set in the 1930s in Empire Bay. This project would not be a direct continuation of Mafia III, but rather part of a new era for the saga.
This is where Mafia: The Old Country comes into play, described by its own developers as a “soft reboot“. This idea fits with the current rumors, as everything suggests that the studio is building a new line of games within the Mafia universe.
Additionally, actress Carina Conti has confirmed that the studio has received the green light to continue developing the franchise, which further reinforces the possibility of new releases.
If that weren’t enough, Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has recently highlighted the commercial success of Mafia: The Old Country, which is often a key factor in giving continuity to a saga.
For now, it’s best to take all this information with caution, but everything indicates that Mafia is far from being put on hold and that we could see important news in the coming months.
