One of the most beloved action franchises is back with a new opportunity for those who missed it the first time around. Darksiders Warmastered Edition now has a confirmed release date for its arrival on current consoles, including Xbox Series.
The news comes on a day filled with announcements, but this re-release holds a special value: it allows players to rediscover the origins of the franchise with improvements tailored to current hardware. THQ Nordic has confirmed that the game will be available on May 19, 2026 on next-generation consoles.

For those who don’t know, this title puts us in the shoes of War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, in an adventure that combines exploration, combat, and puzzles with a very distinct style. Its gameplay is reminiscent of the early God of War games, with intense combat, bosses, and progression based on skills and equipment.
Although this edition was already available on Xbox One, PC, and other platforms, this re-release makes it easier to play in current conditions without relying on backwards compatibility. For now, it’s not confirmed if the rest of the series will receive similar treatment, but this move leaves the door open for the franchise to regain prominence in the coming months.
