Xbox is already looking towards the future, and everything points to a significant change in the way games are created. With Project Helix at its core, Microsoft aims to simplify development and bet on a fully connected ecosystem across devices. Check out more information on the next Xbox generation and how Project Helix will use AMD FSR and promise a brutal graphical leap.
Recent statements reinforce this idea, making it clear that it’s not just about a new console, but a different way of understanding Xbox. An approach that seeks to facilitate the work of studios and expand the reach of games from the very beginning.
Project Helix will enable unified development across the entire Xbox ecosystem
In an interview picked up by IGN (read the full interview here), Chris Charla explained that the goal is for developers to create a single version of the game that works on console, PC, and cloud platforms, including smart TVs.
According to the executive, studios that want to prepare for the next generation should start working with this approach now, developing for Xbox on PC and taking advantage of tools like Xbox Play Anywhere. This would allow games to work natively on Project Helix without the need for multiple versions.
Additionally, Xbox is also improving key aspects such as visibility in its store, especially in the new releases section, which has become a crucial point for games to reach the public. Everything suggests that Project Helix will not just be a new console, but a step towards a unified ecosystem where developing and playing will be much more straightforward.
