The detail is not minor, considering that Asha Sharma herself started her career at Microsoft within the marketing department between 2011 and 2013. That her first steps as CEO are linked to strengthening this area does not seem like a coincidence, especially at a time when competition in the sector is becoming increasingly intense.
Xbox seeks marketing leaders for Game Studios and First Party
Microsoft has recently published two relevant vacancies:
-
Publishing & Lifecycle Marketing Leader – Xbox Game Studios
Position focused on integrated marketing and game lifecycle management. -
Senior Product Marketing Manager – Xbox First Party Games
Senior profile oriented towards the launch and positioning of proprietary franchises.
Both roles are linked to market strategies, campaign planning, and launch coordination, which suggests a reinforcement in the way Xbox communicates and positions its major productions.
The second position directly mentions leadership in go-to-market strategies for a first-party RPG franchise, which has sparked speculation about upcoming internal projects.
Although no official structural changes have been announced, the fact that these positions are being published just after Sharma’s arrival suggests that communication and marketing could become an immediate priority in the new era of Xbox. We’ll have to see if this push translates into a stronger presence of its studios in the coming months.
