CD Projekt Red has already set an approximate date to showcase its next big project again. The Witcher 4 will reappear publicly in June, and it will do so with new details focused on gameplay and technical aspects, something that many fans had been waiting for months after the first official announcement.
The Polish studio has been releasing information gradually, but now we know that the next big showcase will be an event related to Unreal Engine. There, the team will show more concrete advances in the development, in a project that, as they have explained, handles a much higher budget than The Witcher 3 and represents the most ambitious bet of CD Projekt to date.
The Witcher 4 will show its playable evolution in June
During the official AnsweRED podcast, the studio announced several important changes. The new protagonist will be Ciri, who will have a more agile movement system than Geralt. She will have a dedicated jump button, will be able to move while casting spells, and it has been confirmed that she will be able to swim underwater, which opens the door to underwater situations and combat.
CD Projekt has also worked on improving animations, especially facial ones. Since she hasn’t gone through the traditional mutations of witches, Ciri will show more marked expressiveness in scenes and conversations. Additionally, although the world size will be similar to that of the third installment, the team promises greater interactivity and more varied NPCs, with a more reactive environment to our decisions.
The event where the game will be showcased will be the Unreal Engine Fest in June, where a more technical look and possibly unseen material in motion is expected. We’ll have to be attentive, because everything points to the fact that this summer we’ll have a much clearer picture of the future of the saga.
