There was a time when arcade soccer games, so popular in another era, fell into oblivion, and nowadays only a handful of good examples like Golazo! (also from Purple Tree, the same developer) appear, but, little by little, it seems that the genre is reviving with titles like the one that brings us together today: Beat the Champions.
The game has the license of the Argentine Football Association and, therefore, brings together the greatest exponents of the king sport of the country, from Kempes to Messi, passing through Maradona, Batistuta and thousands of other names that have passed through the Argentine national team, three-time world champion.
How many cups do you have?
You can try the game right now on Steam, which includes a match against Brazil or France and a tutorial to learn the movements of the title, which are very exaggerated, as dictated by the genre’s norm. The full version of the game will include an international tournament (i.e., the World Cup, but without FIFA license), a league, some tournaments, and the possibility of playing quick matches.
Although the demo is only available on PC through Valve’s platform, it has been confirmed that Beat the Champions will also arrive on Xbox Series and other platforms, although the release date has not been published yet, but it is likely to be before the World Cup.
