The price of GTA 6 is once again at the center of the debate. During the latest financial conference of Take-Two Interactive, its CEO, Strauss Zelnick, directly addressed one of the biggest questions surrounding the highly anticipated release: how much we will really have to pay for the new Grand Theft Auto.
Although there were no concrete figures, the statements did not go unnoticed. Zelnick spoke of a supposed “deal with the consumer“, an idea that points to not completely breaking with the public’s expectations, especially at a time when video game prices are already moving between 70 and 80 euros in high-profile releases.
What clues does Take-Two give about the price of GTA 6?
The message was ambiguous. On the one hand, the executive insisted that the main goal is to offer entertainment, not to maximize revenue directly. But, at the same time, he emphasized that Take-Two always seeks to “offer more value than the sale price”, an expression that leaves room for interpretation of a possible price increase compared to current standards.
Zelnick also slipped in an interesting reflection: according to his vision, video games are still cheaper than they are really worth in relation to the content and hours they offer. This reasoning has set off alarm bells among many players, as GTA 6 is one of the few titles capable of justifying a higher price without much commercial resistance.
For now, everything indicates that Take-Two does not want to confirm anything until it is closer to the release, but the message is clear: the price of GTA 6 is not set in the public’s mind, and the company is aware of the weight this release has in setting a new ceiling for the industry.
At Generación Xbox, we will continue to follow any news, because when Take-Two talks about money… it’s never by chance.
