At this point, few doubt that Wolfenstein 3 is in development, awaiting an official confirmation from Xbox at one of their upcoming events. However, everything suggests that MachineGames may not have just one project in the works, but at least one more that could surprise us with its approach.
While the third chapter of the Wolfenstein reboot would still be a single-player only experience, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is reportedly developing a new multiplayer FPS in parallel, with a very different focus.
A tactical multiplayer shooter in the style of Rainbow Six Siege
According to insider Jez Corden at Windows Central, internal information points to a tactical online shooter with clear conceptual similarities to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. While no concrete details are known about its mechanics, match structure, or setting, it’s emphasized that this wouldn’t be a minor project.
This move would fit with Microsoft‘s strategy to strengthen its catalog with long-term multiplayer offerings, without abandoning the large-scale single-player experiences that have defined MachineGames over the past decade.
Additionally, leaks coincide on a key point: the January 22, 2026 event could serve to showcase a “mysterious” game that has not been announced yet. Although there’s no official confirmation, it’s possible that this multiplayer FPS could be the star of that surprise, sharing the spotlight with other already-known titles.
For now, everything is in the realm of rumor, but the mere fact that MachineGames is exploring a tactical multiplayer project opens up a very interesting scenario for Xbox’s immediate future.
