Everything points to 2026 being one of the most important years in Xbox history. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the brand, Xbox Game Studios already has several top-level releases on the horizon, which will be joined by unannounced projects and new bets from Bethesda and Activision Blizzard.
Among the titles already confirmed for next year, Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Gears of War: E-Day, and Halo: Campaign Evolved stand out, a lineup that by itself paints a very ambitious calendar for Xbox Game Studios. This is in addition to projects that still don’t have a public release date and possible surprise releases from Microsoft’s internal studios.
Fable emerges as the top contender for 2026
Of all the upcoming games, Fable is the one generating the most excitement and is already seen by many as a strong candidate for Game of the Year. It’s no wonder: it will have been over 15 years since the release of Fable III when this new installment hits the market, placing the return of the saga in a very special context for both veterans and new players.
- Additionally, it’s an open-world RPG, a type of proposal that usually has a significant presence in annual awards and debates. If the project delivers on its promises and manages to update the classic spirit of the saga, Fable won’t just be in the spotlight, but could become one of the year’s biggest benchmarks.
With this landscape, Xbox faces its most important anniversary with a powerful, varied, and potentially era-defining catalog. 2026 won’t be just another year: it will be a genuine statement of intent for the brand’s future.
