Xbox confirms the start date of the Countdown Sale 2025 and advances its first deals

Xbox has already confirmed when its last big promotion of the year will start on the Xbox Store. The Countdown Sale 2025 will kick off on Thursday, December 18th, and it will do so in a big way, with over 1,000 games on sale across console and PC.

As an appetizer, Microsoft has revealed a first sneak peek of discounts, although it makes it clear that this is just a small sample of what’s to come when the campaign is fully active. The most powerful discounts, as is usually the case, will appear once the complete list is published and, as always, we’ll share it with you in a timely manner.

First confirmed discounts of the Countdown Sale 2025 and start date

These are the first deals announced by Xbox:

• Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – Cross Gen, with discounts of up to 30%

• ARC Raiders, with discounts of up to 20%

• Ready or Not: Digital Deluxe Edition, up to 20% off

• Minecraft, up to 25% off (with a $5 gift card on PC)

• EA Sports and 2K Sports games, with promotions that include gift cards and extra content

Xbox also notes that there will be discounts of up to 60%, although the experience of previous years suggests that many titles will end up reaching discounts of 80% or more on selected games.

The complete catalog of the Xbox Countdown Sale 2025 will go live on December 18th, although it’s very likely that some deals will start to appear on the night of Wednesday, December 17th, a few hours ahead of the official start. The last big opportunity of the year to expand your library before closing out 2025.
