The moves around the Yakuza saga don’t stop, and one of the most striking ones has just been confirmed: the title that introduced many players to the history of Kazuma Kiryu is about to leave digital stores. After over seven years in circulation, Yakuza 0 will be withdrawn from sale to make way for its new improved version.
SEGA has made this decision as part of the multi-platform launch of Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, which has already debuted on Nintendo Switch 2 and will also land on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC. If you were thinking of buying the original, the clock is ticking.
Yakuza 0: Official Withdrawal and How it Affects Xbox
- From December 8th, Yakuza 0 will no longer be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam, as well as on Windows 10 versions published in the Microsoft Store. Those who own it before that date will still be able to download it without issue and also opt for the digital upgrade to the new Director’s Cut for $14.99, a significantly lower price than the usual $49.99.
The move also affects the digital pack Yakuza Complete Series, which will replace the base game with the Director’s Cut in all stores, including the Xbox Store. This improved version adds new scenes, an online cooperative mode called Red Light Raid, English dubbing, support for more languages, and the inclusion of the theme “Bubble”, which was absent in the original Western edition.
A significant change to preserve the work in its best version and, at the same time, a clear warning for those who want the classic as it was released in 2017. If you need it in your library, this is the moment.
