The portable experience within the Xbox ecosystem continues to level up. ASUS has launched a key update for the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X that introduces automatic profiles designed to balance performance and autonomy without the need for adjustments. It’s one of the most requested features since its launch, and it arrives today in pre-release, ready to be used with dozens of games.
Along with this novelty, the device receives significant improvements in system stability, library loading speed, controller response, and new tools designed to help players identify which games perform better on the portable device. And Xbox confirms additional new features on the way for 2026, focused on artificial intelligence and operating system improvements.
Automatic game profiles for the ROG Xbox Ally: the most anticipated feature
The Default Game Profiles are now available in preliminary mode. These are game-configured profiles that adjust consumption, FPS limit, and power to balance smoothness and battery life. They are applied automatically when playing in portable mode, without the need to touch menus or parameters.
When a title falls below the FPS target, the system increases power; if it exceeds the target, it reduces consumption to gain autonomy. In Hollow Knight: Silksong, for example, ASUS ensures that these profiles can add almost an extra hour of battery life without losing 120 FPS.

Performance and overall experience improvements

The full-screen interface, designed for portable devices, already works on the Ally and Ally X, and now expands in pre-release to more devices with Windows 11: laptops, desktops, and tablets within the Insider program.
It minimizes background processes, reduces non-essential tasks, and dedicates more resources to the game, bringing Windows closer to a console-like experience.
