The futuristic action saga is back to take a significant turn in its journey. After originally debuting as a console exclusive, its second installment is already in development with a much more ambitious approach. Shift Up has made it clear that their next project will not follow the same publication limits as its predecessor.
This new direction opens the door to a release that will cover multiple platforms from day one, including Xbox Series players, a move that doesn’t surprise given the commercial success of the first title and the Korean studio’s desire to expand its audience.
Stellar Blade 2 goes multi-platform: including Xbox
Confirmation comes directly from a job posting by Shift Up, where it’s specified that the new project is intended for “multiple consoles and PC”. This represents a complete change from the original release, which was limited to PlayStation 5 and later PC, and had already hinted at the possibility of opening up to Nintendo Switch 2 and other market platforms.
The studio describes the sequel as a direct evolution of the first game, maintaining its action style but with a more polished focus and an expanded playable base. Its protagonist, futuristic setting, and precision-based combat were the pillars of the original’s success, which became the best-selling Korean game on Steam and one of Shift Up’s largest sources of income for the year.
The multi-platform opening puts Xbox Series in a starring role for the franchise’s future, as its arrival will significantly expand the player base and allow the saga to grow beyond its original audience. According to the studio, the sequel is in active development and is progressing as planned.
