Within the debate about the future of the Xbox ecosystem on PC, there’s a petition that’s increasingly being repeated among players: the need for EA and Ubisoft titles included in PC Game Pass to grant Xbox achievements from the app itself, just like on Steam. This absence is considered a drawback by many in a platform that Microsoft wants to consolidate as a reference on computers.
Those using PC Game Pass face a clear situation: you can play Mass Effect, FIFA, Assassin’s Creed, or The Division from the official Xbox app for PC, but progress and challenges are only reflected in EA App or Ubisoft Connect. The Xbox profile remains empty, as if you hadn’t played. On Steam, however, those same games do activate their own achievements, even when using the same external launchers.
A crucial feature for those living within the Xbox ecosystem
Achievements have been part of Xbox’s identity since 2005. For many players, they’re a progress history, a motivation system, and a piece that unifies console and PC under the same profile. That’s why, at a time when Microsoft is emphasizing the concept of Xbox everywhere, this lack is more visible than ever.
The community sums it up simply:
Steam can give achievements to Ubisoft and EA games; Xbox should be able to do it too. This isn’t a technical debate, but one of priorities between platforms and agreements with publishers.
In practice, the problem is this:
-
EA/Ubisoft games on PC Game Pass don’t grant Xbox achievements.
-
The same games on Steam do grant achievements, even when using EA App or Ubisoft Connect.
-
The Xbox app for PC loses value compared to Steam in native functions.
-
Consistency between console and PC is broken.
-
The Xbox community on PC feels that this part of the ecosystem is lagging behind.
Can Xbox solve it?
The foundation is there. Microsoft has already shown it can improve the PC experience: a faster app, more games optimized for computers, and a greater presence of Play Anywhere titles. Including achievements for EA and Ubisoft games would be the next logical step in that direction.
The question many are asking now is whether Xbox will prioritize this improvement in 2025, especially with PC Game Pass growing month by month. For those playing on computers within the Xbox ecosystem, it would be a truly significant advancement.
