Rarely can a studio boast of a year as remarkable as the one Obsidian is experiencing. The California-based team, one of the creative pillars within Xbox Game Studios, has decided to celebrate its trajectory with a clear message: this 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most powerful moments in its entire history.
The studio wanted to dedicate today to its community with a special gesture. A small recognition that, in addition to serving as a celebration, puts into perspective the enormous work they have done over more than two decades. And the best part is that they’re doing it during a creative peak, with new releases and highly anticipated sequels on the horizon.
Obsidian Celebrates Its Strongest Year with Avowed, Grounded 2, and The Outer Worlds 2
In their official message for Obsidian Day, the studio has shared a direct thank you to players after 22 years of unique worlds, adventures, and stories. And they’re doing it during a particularly loaded 2025: Avowed, Grounded 2, and The Outer Worlds 2 form a trio of releases that puts the studio in one of the brightest moments of its career.
Here at Generación Xbox, we also want to highlight Obsidian’s moment and importance within the Xbox Series and PC catalog, remembering that their style, ability to create coherent universes, and production pace have made them an indispensable piece of the first-party strategy. And considering the year they’re having, it’s not an exaggeration to say that Obsidian is functioning at a level that few can match right now.
Avowed, Grounded 2, and The Outer Worlds 2.
