The name of Everwild is making headlines again months after its official cancellation. The Rare game, which promised to be an exploration and fantasy experience set in nature, has resurfaced through leaked images on the web. These screenshots, according to MP1st, belong to one of the last internal versions developed before Microsoft halted production three months ago.
The material allegedly came from the personal portfolio of a designer who worked on the project, and offers a more concrete vision of the title than what we’ve seen so far: menus, interface, and some gameplay details. It seems that Everwild aimed to blend creativity, exploration, and a crafting component within a vibrant natural environment.
A closer look at the Everwild we’ll never see
The new images allow us to observe a farming-inspired interface, with sections dedicated to seeds, tools, and special items that players could use to alter their surroundings. We also see a customizable equipment inventory and a curious section for creatures called “Figments”, which would have played a key role in the progression system.
Visually, the game retained Rare’s unmistakable artistic signature, with a painterly style and environments full of life. According to the leaks, the studio was experimenting with an open-world design where exploration and observation were the core of the experience, rather than combat or traditional missions.
Although Everwild was canceled after the major internal restructuring of Xbox Game Studios, these images confirm that Rare was building a unique and visually stunning proposal, very much in line with the British studio’s creative identity.
