More and more players are wondering if The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will really include the full game in its physical edition. Well, the doubt has been resolved: the British retailer The Game Collection has received its first copies and has decided to check it out directly.
According to them, the PS5 version includes 19.06 GB on the disc, allowing you to start the game and play the beginning without a connection. However, after that, you need to download the rest of the content digitally. In the case of Xbox Series, the situation is different: the game requires an internet connection from the very beginning, even to access the initial menu.
Oblivion Remastered needs a connection on Xbox from the start
In the words of the distributor itself:
We were able to start and play on PS5 without a connection, but on Xbox Series X, it asked us to connect to the internet to begin.
Although this practice is not surprising (given that the total size of the game exceeds 120 GB on the Xbox Store) and Xbox hasn’t used multiple discs in a while, many buyers expected a functional disc, at least with some playable content.
Everything suggests that the physical edition of Oblivion Remastered works more like an access token than a complete product, something that’s becoming more common in modern releases. The times when a game arrived fully installed on the disc seem to be behind us, especially after the jump to the Xbox One and PS4 generation.
Still, having a physical copy remains attractive to collectors or fans of Bethesda who want to keep a tangible edition of one of the most influential RPGs in history.
