The universe created by J. R. R. Tolkien continues to expand in the world of video games. According to sources from Insider-Gaming, Embracer Group is preparing to announce a new triple-A project based on The Lord of the Rings, described as an action RPG in third person with similarities to Hogwarts Legacy.
What’s striking is that the title would not only have the financing of Embracer itself, but it would also have received an investment of nearly $100 million from a fund in Abu Dhabi, interested in backing the project’s magnitude.
A Lord of the Rings RPG in the style of Hogwarts Legacy
Insiders indicate that this new Lord of the Rings video game would be conceived to compete directly with Hogwarts Legacy on its own turf: an immersive experience, in third person, and with a strong role-playing component. The idea would be to transport players to Middle-earth, with a focus on exploration, action, and freedom to live their own adventure.
Although there’s no official confirmation yet, the agreement between Embracer and the investment fund would be announced “very soon, possibly next week“, which would open the door to the eagerly awaited first glimpse of the game.
If confirmed, we would be facing an ambitious move by Embracer Group, which seeks to position the Tolkien saga in the current market of large open-world RPGs. News that, without a doubt, will put fans of epic fantasy and those who have been waiting for a title of this caliber in Middle-earth on high alert.
