Xbox is taking a new step in its bet on artificial intelligence. As of today, PC players can start testing Gaming Copilot in the Windows game bar, while the feature will land on the Xbox mobile app in October. This virtual assistant with AI aims to become a personal companion that offers help, tips, recommendations, and even contextual information while you play.
For now, the feature is being enabled progressively and will only be available to users over 18 years old, with support worldwide except in mainland China. Microsoft has confirmed that it will continue to expand its possibilities in the coming months, with the aim of optimizing it for portable devices like the ROG Ally X and for Xbox consoles.
How Gaming Copilot works on Xbox and PC
Gaming Copilot can respond in real-time to what’s happening on screen, offering combat tips, character summaries, or strategic suggestions without having to leave the game. Among its most notable features:
-
Voice Mode: allows voice interaction on PC and mobile devices to ask for help, ask about enemies or NPCs, or consult achievements and recommendations.
-
Push to Talk and Mini Mode (PC): integration with the Game Bar to activate the assistant with a keyboard shortcut or maintain a reduced conversation while playing.
-
Xbox App on mobile devices: access to Copilot as a second screen, with an integrated microphone mode to keep the experience distraction-free.
-
Recommendations and achievements: the assistant can suggest games based on your favorite genres or history, and help you locate pending achievements.
Since its initial announcement, the tool has grown thanks to feedback from Xbox Insiders, who have allowed improving the accuracy of responses, the speed in Voice Mode, and support for different types of games. According to Xbox, the goal is for the assistant to be “there when you need it and disappear when you don’t”, adapting to each player.
Availability and how to activate it
-
PC (Game Bar): simply press Windows + G, locate the Gaming Copilot icon in the bar, and sign in with your Xbox account.
-
Mobile devices (iOS and Android): it will arrive in October 2025 through an update to the Xbox app. In the “Copilot” tab, you’ll find the option to use the microphone to start conversing with the assistant.
Gaming Copilot represents an important step in the integration of AI within the Xbox ecosystem, with the goal of saving time, personalizing the experience, and letting players focus on what matters most: playing.
