Helldivers 2 could add split-screen cooperative

The phenomenon of Helldivers 2 continues to grow on Xbox, and with it, the interest in new ways to enjoy its cooperative action increases. One of the most frequently asked questions by fans is clear: will there be an option to play in split-screen?

Shams Jorjani, CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios, has directly addressed this issue on the game’s official Discord. According to his words, split-screen is technically possible on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC, although it has not yet been decided whether it’s worth allocating development resources to implement it.

Jorjani explained that the doubt is not technical, but rather about its real usefulness to the community. Including local co-op would require a significant production effort, and they’re not sure if the interest would be enough to justify it. However, he made it clear that the studio is willing to explore all future options.

In the meantime, Helldivers 2 continues to expand its content with free updates like Into the Heart of Injustice, a high-risk mission set in the eerie Shadow Terminus, where players must face new challenges underground.

If confirmed, split-screen would be a highly requested addition that would fit with the game’s spirit, further enhancing the cooperative experience that has made Helldivers 2 a massive success.
