In recent hours, the Fortnite community has been closely watching a problem that exclusively affected the Xbox version. For months, some players took advantage of a glitch that allowed them to accumulate skins and V-Bucks without paying a dime, something that ultimately caught the attention of Epic Games.
The exploit was detected between December 2024 and July 2025, and was related to the refund system. Users made purchases, requested refunds, and due to an error, the items remained in their accounts. This led to extreme situations, with players unlocking dozens of aspects, giving gifts and obtaining V-Bucks packages worth hundreds of dollars.
Epic Games has already fixed the infinite V-Bucks error in Fortnite
Epic has confirmed that all items obtained through this exploit will be removed from affected accounts, although there will be no mass bans. The company also clarified that players who requested refunds in good faith will not be harmed by this measure.
The process was as follows:
-
Players bought skins, packs, or V-Bucks in the game’s store.
-
Then, they requested a refund for those purchases.
-
Due to a glitch in the Xbox version, the items or V-Bucks were not removed from the account, even though the money had already been refunded.
In practice, this allowed players to keep the content without paying anything. Some users took advantage of this on a massive scale for months, accumulating skins, gifts for other players, and thousands of V-Bucks.
In this way, the studio closes a problem that had generated concern in the community and ensures that the Fortnite purchase system returns to normal on Xbox.
