Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was one of the main highlights of the recent Gamescom 2025 (as we reported in our preview) when it finally confirmed a definitive release date after years of delays and development changes. However, the announcement was accompanied by an unexpected controversy that forced Paradox to backtrack on part of its strategy.
The reason lies in the “Shadows and Silk” pack, which added two playable clans to the game. This content was only available within the Premium Edition or as a standalone DLC for $21.99. The players’ reaction was swift: on forums and social media, many labeled the offer as “abusive,” which eventually escalated to the company itself.
Refunds and Changes in Sales Policy
Paradox confirmed on the official Bloodlines 2 Discord that they are working on a review of the sales conditions. As part of these measures, refunds for Premium Edition pre-orders will be issued starting September 8 while the changes are being finalized.
The publisher has stated that on September 17, they will provide more details on the new commercial strategy, ensuring that implementing adjustments of this scale requires coordinating different teams and taking the necessary time to do it right.
Therefore, those who had already pre-ordered the complete edition will receive their money back in the coming days, with the possibility of pre-ordering the game again later once the new conditions are clarified. With this decision, Paradox aims to calm a community that, after so many delays and development issues, expected a clearer and more transparent return of one of the most beloved RPGs in the genre.
