The universe of Cyberpunk 2077 never stops moving. After its latest update, CD Projekt Red has released a new official message that has once again sparked the community’s excitement. Through a fictional N.U.S.A. statement, in line with the game’s atmosphere, the Polish company has confirmed that there will be news on September 4th.
The player community has quickly jumped into speculation, especially since we know what it won’t be. Amelia “Lilayah”, Senior Community Manager at CD Projekt, responded to a user on X with a very clear phrase: “All I can say is that it’s not a DLC and it’s not a patch”. In this way, the company has ruled out the possibility that it’s a new expansion like Phantom Liberty or a simple technical update, which has increased the mystery even more.
What to Expect from the New Cyberpunk 2077 Event
- At this moment, theories are going in many directions. One of the most commented-on points to the possibility that it could be an announcement related to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the Netflix series that revitalized the game in 2022 and still has a huge following. Other users speculate about some kind of external collaboration or even an in-game event, similar to the transmedia experiments we’ve seen in other franchises.
- There are also voices pointing to the possibility that CD Projekt might be preparing a sneak peek at Orion, the codename for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, which has already been confirmed, although the deadlines seem too tight for something significant to be shown. Nevertheless, a simple conceptual teaser would be enough to keep the flame burning among fans.
In any case, the company has shown that it wants to keep the Night City universe alive, beyond V’s story and the already published content. If the release of Phantom Liberty made one thing clear, it’s that the franchise still has a long way to go and that the Polish studio is seeking to cement its role as one of the pillars of action RPGs in the current generation.
September 4th will be the date that clears up the doubts. Until then, the only thing we can confirm is that the announcement won’t go unnoticed and that CD Projekt has the entire community waiting for its next move.
