Microsoft continues refining the Xbox experience beyond the console, and it does so with an improvement that many users have been waiting for: your game history now syncs automatically across console, PC, and cloud. This means you can pick up where you left off on any device, no matter where you last played.
The feature, which began in testing for insiders, is now being rolled out to the general public. Its goal is simple: unify your game history and always have your latest played titles at your fingertips, whether it’s on Xbox Game Pass, in the cloud, or in your digital library.
How the new game history works on Xbox
With this update, all your recent games will appear in a shared list across devices:
-
On console, you can access it from the “Game History” tile on the home screen.
-
On the Xbox app for PC, you’ll find this information in both the sidebar (under “Recent”) and in your library, in the “Game History” tab.
-
In the cloud, played titles are also automatically added to this record, even if you don’t have them installed on any machine.
This means that if you were playing, for example, a classic retro game in the cloud, you can later continue on your Xbox Series or PC without losing your place.
Practical examples of synchronized history (in everyday life)
-
From console to laptop: imagine you’re playing Frostpunk 2 on your Xbox Series before leaving the house. Thanks to the game history, when you open the Xbox app on your laptop, you’ll find it in “Recent” and can continue the game from the cloud in just seconds.
-
From cloud to console: during a trip, you try out Hollow Knight: Silksong on your mobile device with Game Pass. When you get home, you turn on your console and it appears in your game history, ready to resume without having to search for it again in the catalog.
-
From PC to shared console: you finish a session of Grounded 2 on your desktop computer and later want to continue in the living room on a shared Xbox. Since it’s in your game history, just open the tab and keep playing from the same spot.
-
Recovering forgotten games: even if you’ve only tried a title for a few minutes, it will be reflected in your history. This makes it easier to remember which games you had pending and pick them up again later.
An improvement designed for everyday life, making it easy to jump between devices without complications. With this step, Xbox brings the idea that what matters is not where you play, but that your games are always within reach.
