The Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live ended with a genuine surprise: the official presentation of Black Myth: Zhong Kui, a new action RPG developed by Game Science, creators of the successful Black Myth: Wukong. The game will not be a direct sequel to the Monkey King’s adventure, but an independent chapter within the universe of the saga.
The Chinese studio highlighted that their goal with this project is to expand the Black Myth series beyond what is already known, betting on a title with distinct gameplay proposals and a more daring approach. According to them, they seek to offer an experience that combines innovation and tradition, maintaining the essence of a deep and challenging action RPG.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui will arrive on PC and major consoles
For now, there is no confirmed release date, although Game Science has ensured that the title will be available on PC and major gaming platforms, which suggests its arrival on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Switch 2.
In terms of gameplay, Black Myth: Zhong Kui will remain faithful to the foundation established by Wukong, but will introduce new mechanics and innovative elements to differentiate itself and offer players a unique experience within the franchise.
With this announcement, Game Science demonstrates that the Black Myth saga is far from stopping, reinforcing its position as one of the most promising names in the ARPG genre globally.
