Microsoft is already promoting the ROG Ally as its Xbox consoles at Gamescom 2025

Microsoft is already revving up its engines for Gamescom 2025, and it’s doing so with a clear nod to its future in the portable console market. On its official social media channels, the company has started promoting the ASUS ROG Ally as “the closest thing to having an Xbox in your hands away from home,” a message that reinforces its strategy of integrating Xbox Game Pass and the gaming ecosystem into devices beyond traditional consoles.

This move coincides with the confirmation of a special Xbox livestream on August 20 during the German fair, where more details about these models, now dubbed ROG Xbox Ally, will be revealed. Although ASUS remains the manufacturer, Microsoft is taking a leading role in promoting them, making it clear that they are part of its vision for gaming anywhere.

Xbox in the palm of your hand

The ROG Ally has gained popularity as a powerful alternative for playing on PC and in the cloud, and its integration with Xbox Game Pass makes it a natural complement for those who want to continue their gaming sessions outside of the TV. However, the ROG Ally Xbox versions have not been released yet, and are still waiting for their official release date and final price for each market.

With Gamescom 2025 as the showcase, everything suggests that Microsoft will take advantage of the presentation to clear up these uncertainties and mark an important step in the expansion of Xbox into the portable format.
