This story takes place in a land that vaguely resembles modern-day Japan. In the twenty years since the development of the first Human Tank, the war between the Empire and the Kingdom of Japan has become an indirect war between the Human Tanks of both sides.

The Empire of Japan once dominated the entire Japanese territory. Now, diminished and cornered, the Empire is preparing for its last resistance as the Kingdom of Japan’s tanks approach its capital. Shoutaro Daihon’ei, a lieutenant in the Imperial Army, advances onto the battlefield, closely followed by the loyal Human Tanks of his company.
