Relic Entertainment has confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition will officially launch on August 14, 2025 on PC via Steam and GOG, with a price of $29.99. This new edition of the classic real-time strategy game has been optimized for current systems and will offer improved graphics, performance tweaks, and enhancements to the artificial intelligence.
The Canadian studio has accompanied the announcement with a new trailer updated to 4K resolution, which rescues the intensity of the war in the Aurelia sector with a renewed visual presentation. This definitive version not only seeks to respect the legacy of the original title but also to modernize it to make it more accessible and attractive to new players.
Dawn of War – Definitive Edition arrives on August 14 with technical improvements and a discount for veterans
Among the most notable new features, Relic has confirmed the incorporation of improvements to the pathfinding system, one of the most recurrent requests from veteran players. Additionally, aspects of the graphics engine have been fine-tuned to offer a more fluid experience on current monitors, without sacrificing the characteristic visual style of the original.
As a thank you to the community, players who already own Dawn of War – Anniversary Edition will receive a 30% discount on the purchase of this new version. This offer will be available on both Steam and GOG and will remain active “for the foreseeable future”, according to the studio.
This definitive edition does not add new content compared to the Anniversary Edition, but it presents itself as the best way to enjoy one of the most influential RTS games of the last 20 years. The return of the Space Marines, Orks, and the rest of the factions comes just in time to re-engage fans of the 40K universe on PC.
