The Xbox Game Pass catalog continues to grow in July with an addition that will delight fans of dystopian science fiction. One of the most visually striking vertical shooters in recent years will be available next week for all subscribers to the service.
Developed by Swedish studio Neon Giant and published by Curve Games, this title was acclaimed for its atmosphere and visual style full of lights and industrial metal. Now it’s back in the spotlight thanks to Game Pass, in a month where the genre is on the rise with other similar releases.
Available on July 8th in Xbox Game Pass
The Ascent joins the service on July 8th on Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC, and Cloud, being a game fully optimized for Xbox Series and compatible with online and local co-op play. It’s an action RPG with an isometric view set in a cyberpunk metropolis where everything is controlled by a corporation that suddenly collapses without explanation.
Do you like the Cyberpunk aesthetic?
- Although The Ascent and Cyberpunk 2077 are very different experiences in terms of gameplay — one is an isometric shooter with RPG elements and the other is a first-person RPG — both share a distinct aesthetic marked by neon, oppressive corporations, and urban decay.
- In both titles, we find dense metropolises, luminous billboards, cybernetic implants, and morally ambiguous characters struggling to survive in a world that exploits them. Additionally, The Ascent‘s artistic design stands out for its level of detail in every alleyway, market, and corporate tower, evoking similar sensations to those conveyed by Night City, although from a more tactical and vertical perspective.
The player takes on the role of a worker trapped in this lawless environment and must fight to survive, upgrade their cybernetic implants, and uncover what’s happening behind the collapse of the Ascension Group. Intense shooting, customization, special abilities, and futuristic weapons combine with impeccable artistic design and a thrilling gameplay rhythm.
A perfect opportunity for those who enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 or are looking for something more arcade-like and direct but just as powerful in terms of atmosphere. From July 8th, it will be available at no extra cost for all Game Pass users.
