Capcom has announced a new title in the Resident Evil saga, but it’s not what many fans were expecting. Under the name of Resident Evil Survival Unit, this new project will be unveiled on July 11th at 2:00 AM (Spanish mainland time) with an official live stream on YouTube.

The game won’t follow the traditional path of shooters or classic survival horror. Instead, Capcom is betting on a real-time strategy experience, optimized for mobile devices. A proposal that promises to divide the community and represents one of the riskiest twists in the franchise’s history.

Capcom to Unveil Resident Evil Survival Unit on July 11th

Described as a “new survival horror strategy game“, Survival Unit is being developed in collaboration with Aniplex and Joycity, and will be available on iOS and Android. Capcom has confirmed that the release will be simultaneous worldwide, including Europe, North America, Japan, South Korea, and the rest of Asia.

For now, no details are known about the gameplay or which characters or scenarios will be involved, but it has been confirmed that it’s a complete reinvention of the Resident Evil universe, designed for both veteran fans and new players. Everything points to a tactical approach with unit management and decision-making under pressure, set in survival situations.

The official presentation can be watched on Capcom’s YouTube channel on July 11th at midnight (UTC). That day, we’ll find out if this project will manage to surprise… or deeply disappoint.
