Little by little, a small free project is gaining traction among PC gamers. It’s called Spartan Survivors, a top-down action title that draws heavily from Halo, both in its aesthetics and in its weapons and enemies. Since its release just a few days ago, it has already accumulated over 7,000 unique downloads, exceeding the team’s expectations by far.
The game can be downloaded completely free of charge through Itch.io, and offers a Vampire Survivors-style experience, but with a sci-fi military setting. The community has responded with enthusiasm, sharing gameplay, scores, and suggestions with the development team, which is already working to expand its presence on other platforms.
Now available for free on PC and on its way to Steam and consoles
According to the studio responsible, the Steam release is still in progress, although the review and certification process by the platform is taking longer than expected. Nevertheless, they assure that the version will arrive “soon”, and afterwards they will focus on adapting the game to mobile devices and later to Xbox.
This means that those who want to try Spartan Survivors can already do so on PC without paying a thing, while users of other platforms will have to wait a bit longer. The Itch.io version already includes several gameplay improvements compared to the first builds, and has received a warm welcome thanks to its direct style, rapid progression, and constant waves of enemies.

The idea of combining the Halo universe with the “auto-shooter” formula is working. Although it’s not an official Microsoft or 343 Industries project, its aesthetic fidelity and the love with which the universe has been recreated is part of what’s most appealing to fans. You can try it for free now and decide if you’re ready to survive in Spartan Survivors.
