July kicks off with new opportunities to expand your collection without spending a dime. Although Xbox Game Pass remains the most convenient way to access hundreds of games, there are other completely legal ways to get free games, both on console and PC.
At Generación Xbox, we update a dedicated section for free content every week, with all the active promotions from platforms like Epic Games Store, Steam, Prime Gaming, or Xbox’s Free Play Days. If you’re interested in free content and discovering new opportunities, this guide is for you.
Free games for Xbox, Steam, and PC in July 2025
Epic Games Store (PC)
Epic gives away one or more games every week, compatible with PC with Windows. Although they can’t be played on Xbox consoles, some of them have a console version or are included in Game Pass.
Free this week:
-
Sable (until July 3rd)
-
Figment – Backpack Hero (from July 3rd to 11th)
The promotion is renewed every Thursday at 5:00 PM (Spanish mainland time). There are weeks when they offer high-profile titles, so it’s worth keeping an eye out.
Prime Gaming (PC and Cloud Gaming)
If you have Amazon Prime, you can claim free games from Prime Gaming. Some of them can be played on Xbox via Cloud Gaming if they’re already on Game Pass.
Free games from June 17th to July 7th:
-
Thief: Deadly Shadows (GOG) – First-person stealth adventure where you infiltrate a dark city full of secrets.
-
Jupiter Hell (GOG) – Turn-based tactical roguelike with retro aesthetics and demonic space combat.
-
Gallery of Things: Reveries (Legacy Games) – Surrealistic and artistic hidden object puzzles.

You just need to access gaming.amazon.com and link your account to download them on PC. Once claimed, they remain forever.
Steam (PC)
Steam doesn’t have a weekly free games section like Epic, but it does have one-off promotions, limited-time free trials, or special gifts during events like the summer sales.
-
Weekend access to complete games for free
-
100% free games for a limited time (if you add them, you keep them)
-
Playable demos during the Steam Next Fest
- Latest free Steam game to download
Although many of these promotions are on PC, some coincide with titles available on Xbox or compatible with Steam Deck.
GOG (PC without DRM)
CD Projekt’s store offers free games on occasion, especially during special sales or themed events. They’re games you can keep without needing a separate client and without DRM.
Recently, Sunblaze was given away, and they often feature interesting classics or indies. It’s recommended to check the “Giveaways” section every few days.
Xbox Free Play Days (console)
Every week, Xbox allows free play of several titles over the weekend for Game Pass Core or Ultimate users. Access is complete, and progress is saved if you decide to buy the game later.
Games are announced every Thursday morning, and the promotion lasts until Sunday night.
Free-to-play games on Xbox
In addition, Xbox has a large permanent catalog of completely free games. They don’t require a subscription, and you can play them right now:
-
Overwatch 2
-
Call of Duty: Warzone
-
The First Descendant
-
Fall Guys
-
Rocket League
-
MultiVersus
They’re online and multiplayer titles with frequently updated content.
At Generación Xbox, we keep our section dedicated to free games and content up to date, so you don’t miss any opportunity. Every week, we review the free games from Epic, Prime Gaming news, Steam trials, Free Play Days, and more.
