June has been filled with notable releases for Xbox and PC, but there’s also been room for disappointments. Among all the games released this month, one has received an especially negative reaction from the public: MindsEye, the futuristic action shooter set within the Everywhere universe, has ended up being pinpointed as the worst release of June.
Developed by Build a Rocket Boy, the studio founded by the former GTA producer, this title was presented as an immersive, intense experience with a cinematic focus. However, after its release, criticisms have multiplied, both for its technical issues and for a gameplay proposal that has failed to convince almost anyone.
Why has MindsEye been the worst game of June?
Since its release, MindsEye has accumulated negative reviews on Steam and social platforms like Reddit or X. The reasons are several, but the most notable ones are:
- Very poor performance even on powerful equipment
- Generic and clumsy gameplay, lacking its own identity
- Chaotic storyline, with forced scenes and poor pacing
- Graphical errors, broken physics, and frequent bugs
- Short duration and almost no replay value
Additionally, as part of the Everywhere universe, many players expected MindsEye to serve as a grand introduction to this developing platform. But what has been seen is quite the opposite: a failed experience, which rather than generating interest, has raised doubts about the project’s future in general.
The game arrived on PC as part of the early access client for Everywhere, and although it’s still in its early stages, the overall state of the product has been so disappointing that most consider it a direct failure.
In the words of some Steam users: “it’s as if they wanted to make a futuristic GTA without a budget, without ideas, and without testers”. Comparisons to more polished and innovative titles like RoboCop: Rogue City or Ghostrunner 2 have been quick to arrive.
MindsEye has not only been the worst game of June, but it’s also shaping up to be one of the worst of the year if it doesn’t receive a thorough overhaul. And what’s most concerning is that this release may have damaged the overall image of the ambitious Everywhere project. To make matters worse, the first layoffs have been announced at the studio, leaving this game as one of the most random releases not only of this year… but also competing with others from the past.
