Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind The Outer Worlds 2, confirmed that one of the biggest inspirations they used for the game was one of their own productions, the iconic Fallout: New Vegas. Brandon Adler, the game’s creative director, in an interview, jokingly considered that fans might be tired of hearing Fallout: New Vegas cited as an inspiration and proposed other options.
The Deus Ex titles (Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided) also played a crucial role, in Adler’s words, in the development of this new game, which is no small thing.
The importance of making tough decisions
The creative director emphasized the importance of the game’s mechanics in giving more weight to the decisions players make as they progress through the story, generating direct consequences from those choices, with a world and story that react accordingly.
The game is set to release on October 29th of this year, and despite some controversy surrounding the price of the title, fans are extremely excited for the second installment of the RPG.
