Ubisoft is preparing patch 1.0.6 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, available on all platforms starting Wednesday, June 25th. This new version includes an official collaboration with Critical Role, a new extreme difficulty mode, visual improvements, interface tweaks, and a lengthy list of corrections.
The patch has a variable size depending on the platform: 19 GB on Xbox Series, 6.27 GB on PS5, and 17 GB on PC. When players update, they will receive new content that expands the experience of one of the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed games of the last decade.
Patch 1.0.6 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Content, Improvements, and Nightmare Mode
Among the most significant additions to this update is the free mission “A Critical Encounter”, the result of a collaboration between Ubisoft and the Critical Role universe. This new storyline is unlocked after completing The Way of the Blacksmith and acquiring Yasuke as a playable character. In it, players will help Rufino, an old friend of Tomiko, stop a network of political assassinations.
Completing this mission unlocks a new ally based on the character played by Robbie Daymond and an exclusive trophy/achievement. Additionally, a pack of weapons with designs inspired by Critical Role has been added, available in the game’s store.
Another major novelty is the inclusion of Nightmare Mode, a much more demanding difficulty level designed for those seeking a genuine challenge. Among the changes are:
-
Less permissive and more punitive parries
-
More aggressive and intelligent AI
-
Reduced resources such as adrenaline or rations
-
More limited stealth: even crouched or in shadows, you can be detected
-
Only abilities can leave enemies vulnerable
The long-awaited option to show or hide the helmet in cinematics has also been added, something highly requested by the community. This is complemented by new camera controls while riding a horse (three types of shots), an expanded regional alert system in the open world, and more visual customization, allowing players to hide elements like enemy loot or the last known position.
PC players with modest equipment can also celebrate the inclusion of the new Ultra Low graphics mode, designed to improve performance on low-power configurations.
- Ubisoft has also corrected dozens of errors, from blocked missions to clipping, animation, or progress issues. Among them, notable fixes include missions like Lady Rokkaku’s Diary, Chance Encounter, or Lost Honor, as well as physics improvements for outfits and weapons.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC. Patch 1.0.6 can be downloaded starting June 25th, marking another step in the game’s first-year roadmap. The Critical Role mission, Nightmare Mode, and new visual options reaffirm Ubisoft’s commitment to post-launch content.
